The term spondyloarthritis (SpA) includes a group of diseases characterized by inflammation in the spine and in the peripheral joints, to which other specific clinical features are added such as uveitis, dactylitis, psoriasis, inflammatory bowel disease, and human leukocyte antigen (HLA) B27. Psoriatic arthritis is grouped with spondyloarthritis by virtue of the genetic and clinical features shared with these disorders.
